Your wellbeing and prebiotics
You’ve probably already heard of probiotics, which are the ‘friendly bacteria’ that help promote a healthy gut. They’re usually found in yoghurts, drinks and supplements and research shows that these bacteria – such as Lactobacillus acidophilus – may help fend off ‘bad bacteria’- supporting your body’s defence.
Prebiotic fibres also act to increase the ‘good bacteria’ in the gut. These are non-digestible fibres that good bacteria selectively feed on; this ultimately affects the overall environment of the gut.
Prebiotic fibres can be found naturally in over 36,000 plants and vegetables including artichoke, asparagus, salsify, leek, onion and garlic. This product contains fibres called galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), which also promote the growth of beneficial bacteria.
