How do I lose vitamins – don’t they stay in my body once I’ve eaten something that’s got them in it?

Our body can store some vitamins like Vitamin A and minerals like iron, but a lot of others can’t be stored and we need to top them up regularly through diet or other means to stay healthy. These vitamins can be found in fruits and vegetables, which is one of the reasons we encourage people to try and eat at least five servings of fruit and veg every day. Fresh, canned, dried and of course fruit juices can also count.

Can you have too many vitamins?

Yes, you can have too much of a good thing. The important thing is to eat a balanced and varied diet, that way it will be unlikely to get too much or too little.

It is very difficult to give specific dietary advice to individuals as each person is different. People, in general, do not eat vitamins and minerals, they eat foods. Therefore, Minute Maid Nutri Top Up is an enjoyable way to top up on selected vitamins and also counts towards one of your 5 a day portions of fruits and vegetables. Simple.

Carbohydrate is an important source of energy, so active children should eat diets rich in carbohydrates. Sources of carbohydrate include bread, rice, pasta, cereals and potatoes, but other foods such as fruit and fruit juice, vegetables, beans and pulses also count.
